Progressing up the North Sea

Sun, 12 July 2009

Progress is slow but steady with Ben & 'Mini Minx' through the Dover Straits before dark last night and by tonight they should be through the shoals and Gas Fields off North East corner of Norfolk and into some open North Sea; until the next batch of platforms further up the coast.

The wind is being fairly kind and staying in the west, south west and south and at 10 - 15 knots.

This week may see some fog developing and light airs meeting Ben off the northern tip of Scotland - so more challenges to come.

Ben is tired - the past 24 hours has required a lot of concentration on everything  going on around him and picking a safe route through the shipping crossing his path, and the Gas Fields and sandbanks - but now focused on reaching the Shetlands in a few days time.
