Past the Fastnet Rock - 36 Hours to Finish Line!

Thu, 23 July 2009

After seven very wet and extremely windy days on the western side of the British Isles and Ireland, Ben & Mini Minx finally turned the corner into the Celtic Sea last night and passed by the Fastnet Rock heading down towards the Scilly Isles.

These islands are the final turning point before Ben heads up to Start Point, Devon and crosses the line at which he started this Solo Non-Stop Round Britain & Ireland attempt just over 14 days ago.

Ben is absolutely exhausted, soaked through, all his gear in the boat is soaked as well - as he said yesterday 'this is a very small boat in some very big seas when the wind gets up, and it just keeps on beating you up again and again!'

Despite all that, very positive and keeping the focus and pressure on to get the job done.
