At the age of 25 Ben has already gained much experience within different aspects of the industry.
Ben is an experienced, sailor and up and coming yacht designer and boat builder with several years experience at the sharp end of the industry, having regularly raced and worked on some of Europe’s most successful racing yachts.
‘‘Sailing is my passion. Growing up in Cowes has given me great opportunities in the sport that I love. At 10 years old I discovered sailing. I took courses at IYWAC and at 12 won the ISC cadets cup and from then onwards crewed for Andy Cassell in Sonars.
I first read about the Mini Transat Race when I was 15, and from that moment on my dream was to take part in this great event and win.
At school I excelled at Design Technology and I spent all my free time in competitive sailing in every kind of keel boat.
Going to University to study Yacht Design is where my ambitions reached a much wider dimension; my dream became not only to compete in the Mini Transat but that I would Design, Build and Race my own boat in the 2011 edition of the event.
Since graduating I have spent 3 years gaining the necessary experience to build my own boat working in the high performance marine composites yacht building industry as well as building a strong sailing CV.
My ambition and drive has brought me closer to my goal and I have now embarked on my Mini Transat Campaign for 2011".
